“When the people fear their government there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” -- Thomas Jefferson
FIREARMS DEFEND LIBERTY SELF-DEFENSE IS A GOD-GIVEN RIGHT -- EXERCISE IT -- OR RISK GOVERNMENT OPPRESSION
The
Second Amendment protects our freedom from a potential oppressive
government. It also enables law-abiding citizens to defend their families,
homes, and property from criminals.
Thomas Jefferson, a life-long hunter and gun collector, wrote just before his death in 1826 that “all power is inherent in the people; . . . it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.”
"What
country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from
time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?"
-Thomas Jefferson
“And that the said Constitution shall never be construedto authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of thepress or the rights of conscience or to prevent the People of the United States who are peaceable Citizensfrom keeping their own arms...”
~ Samuel Adams, Debates of the Massachusetts Convention of 1788.
“I
simply cannot stand by and watch a right guaranteed by the Constitution
of the United States come under attack from those who either can’t
understand it, don’t like the sound of it, or find themselves too
philosophically squeamish to see why it remains the first among equals:
Because it is the right we turn to when all else fails. That’s
why the Second Amendment is America’s first freedom.”
~ The late Charlton Heston in his speech to the National Press Club, September 14, 1997.
