Liberty is to be understood and
exercised in the context of self-restraint. It cannot be linked to "not
hurting"
anyone in a Libertarian sense. Few behaviors occur without hurting
someone. We often must decide who
will be hurt the least. Example: It hurts the ability to raise children
as Christians when society teaches (and
forces them to learn in school) that homosexuality is just another
lifestyle. Our tax dollars are wasted on this
rubbish. Roughly two percent of people are homosexuals. The rest of us
are not. We need to "not hurt" the
98% because that's a virtuous decision and because it directly benefits
the majority. The tail must not wag
the dog.
Recall that the Framers were moral
men. They understood that NO society can survive as a FREE society
without virtue, because self-restraint is an ESSENTIAL prerequisite for
self-government. Evidence in hand:

Human behavior must operate from an
inborn sense of moral conscience. The Churches have a large duty
to undertake here, yet legions of them are effectively morally
bankrupt, if only by their complicit silence in the
face of evil. The Marxist infiltrators are largely responsible for
this. Therefore it rests upon our shoulders as
citizens to evangelize where local churches fail, because it's also our
CIVIC duty to promote virtue.
Our society is failing because more than half of our fellow citizens
have no authentic sense of virtue -- no
ability to differentiate correctly between RIGHT and WRONG. They behave
according to moral relativism. If
it feels good, do it. They think that freedom is the ability to do what
you want as long as no one else gets
hurt. But they are BLIND to who is actually getting hurt. That's why
they abort their children (50 MILLION
dead American citizens since 1972). That's why they think homosexuals
can marry. That's why they believe
that government cannot legislate morality, even though every existing
law is based on someone's definition
of morality. The key question is WHOSE definition of morality shall
decide? That's why so many of our
fellow deranged citizens think Barack Obama is cool. Many authentically
moral people voted for the other
candidate, but they were outnumbered because ERROR is being propagated
in society regarding what
liberty really means. Liberty is NOT the freedom to get something for
free from your neighbor.
The Greek and Roman Republics now lie in ruins, rotting in the dustbin
of history. The USA will follow
unless we avoid blindly repeating their errors.
